Perception of Death

With only a week left in class I wanted to take some time to see how far I have come when looking at death and dying. After taking this class my awareness of death has grown to a significant extent. For example, i have learned about experiences that I would rather avoid. I'm not talking about death itself but leaving loved ones to deal with my mess upon death. This class has shown a great deal of information on death and dying and has helped me. Also, this class has shown me that death doesn't have to be scary and you can make it less scary for people who are on the way out. I mean dying. So, thank you for this wonderful class and lessons well learned!

  1. This class has brought to my attention the importance of a living will. I have mentioned to my husband the way I would like to be laid to rest and when to pull to plug. But I know now that if it isn't in writing then it might not get done the way I want it to. I also enjoyed this class it was actually more interesting than I thought it would be.

  2. I would have to agree that this class has provided a lot of insight into the different aspects of death and dying. I thoroughly enjoyed this class and found everything that we discussed very interesting. I think that the subject of death and dying is just as important as any other and should be discussed. Experiencing death throughout our lifetime is inevitable, and it is important to know how to handle the situation or what to possibly expect. This class has given me a level of comfort with the subject and I am very thankful for that.

  3. I agree that we have learned so much! However, I think what I learned most was how to approach death and dying. Most of what we discussed in class was information I think we all knew previously. I think I gained the ability to talk about those things with people and to be open about the topicof death. After all, we will all face it!

  4. This class has definitly been very informative. We have learned so much on the subject of death and dying. I agree that the class has made death a little less scary than I previously thought and I am glad we learned the importance of comforting those who are close to it. I also agree that this class has allowed me to become more comfortable with the subject of death where as before I really never talked about it.

I agree with everyone when they say this class has made them more comfortable about the subject of death and dying. I am really glad I took this class, it was wonderful and I can say I don’t have a problem talking openly about death.

  6. After being in class for five weeks my views on this class is much different than when I first started. I thought I would dread coming to class at 8am to discuss death and dying but I don’t. I do admit sometimes I can feel sad because some of the topics trigger personal death experiences that I have had. Over all this class has help me put words to my feelings and have a better understanding of how people cope with death.
