  2. Therapy animals are so, so important to me.
If anyone watched the show scrubs there was an episode where a very sick patient wanted to see her dog and the doctors risked their jobs to get the dog in, and her health improved.
Its stuff like that, or this picture makes me feel like I really should get my dog into therapy work.

  3. I absolutely love animal-assisted therapy. Dogs have done wonders for sick children, and children with austism. It's just insane how expensive a lot of the programs cost to place a trained puppy with a childn in need, the estimated cost is about $13,500. I'm a Psychology major and plan on getting my masters in social work and also get certified in veterinary social work so I can work in a hospital (ideally a childrens hospital) and be able to incorporate my dog into my work. He's a huge English Mastiff so although he can't climb into a hospital bed, he's amazing with little kids and you can't help but be happy when he's around.

  4. I knew a woman who had a huge fluffy therapy dog. She told me that kids would be scared and hug the dog and tell him their fears and secrets and she would just sit next to them and listen. It's incredible how people, especially children respond to animals.

  5. I don't know where I found it but I will try to locate it to post it. But I read somewhere that there is a cat that lives in a hospital that just sits in the corner and won't let anyone pet him or touch him in anyway. Then suddenly he will jump in someones bed and snuggle them. This means that they will pass within an hour. No one knows how this cat does it, but it can truly sense when someone is starting to slip away. I might be off but I want to say its been right 37 times. Very interesting.

  6. This picture is very sweet. Animals really do help the dying and their families. I have a friend who just spent some time in a hospice with her father. She said a service dog came into their room and really helped them feel a little better. They then found out that they could bring their own dog to the hospice and she said her dad realy appreciated that.

  7. I must agree this picture is very sweet. It shows how loyal animals are to their owners. My friend has a therapy dog and that dog is the most loveable dog that I have seen. I have a cocker spaniel and my daughter loves him, when she sees him she goes crazy over him. Dogs are truly a man's best friend.
