I don't know how many of you are Harry Potter fans, but I am.
In the books they have a fable about death, that appeared in the 7th movie.

in the video 3 bothers get rewards from death, and two of them meet and ill fate for their hubris, but the third brother choices to live a long life and "greets death as an old friend".
Ever since I first read this story I really enjoyed it and wondered what everyone else thinks of the story.
I think its a great thing to teach people not to fear the inevitable.
enjoy,
Tabitha Burke.
I thought the story about the deathly hallows was very good. I liked the way it illustrated the journey the brothers were taking together when they encountered Death on the bridge they constructed over the water. The two greedy brothers were not able to outsmart Death with their wishes, but the one who asked for the invisibility cloak lived a long life and was able to meet Death on his own terms, in effect having a "good death." The brother who wished for the invisibility cloak also passed the cloak on to his son, implying that his offspring would have a long, satisfying life, as well.
ReplyDeleteI thought this was a great parable about Death to tell to young children. I just recently saw this movie and thought it was serendipitous, since I was in this class.
This is something I really enjoyed about the movie as well! I thought it was well portrayed and kind of set the tone for the rest of the movie. Where eventually Harry meets death on his own with Voldemort after hearing that story. It shows how deeply connected every bit of information from the first book to the final book comes together and makes sense.
